National Electoral Commission (NEC)/Tume ya Uchaguzi is the government institution that was brought up in 1993 basing on article 75 in the Tanzania Constitution. In this article it says the National Electoral Commission shall consist members such as Chairman who shall be ajudge of the High Court or Court of appeal of Tanzania or a lawyer who qualifies to be advocate with experience of 15years
The vice chairman shall be a Judge of the High Court of Appeal of Tanzania or lawyer who qualifies to be advocate with experience of not less than 15 years
