Mbulu District is one of all Districts in Tanzania. It was previously known as Imboru in Mbulu language of Iraqw speakers in the North side of Tanzania. Mbulu is core of minority cushion speakers known as Iraqw people. In history it was founded by Germans in East Africa who formally colonised Tanganyika and other part of the East Africa. It is narrated that Mbulu climate favoured Germans without forgetting hospitality of its people which made the Germans to be less harsh to the Iraqw people than other tribes in the East Africa
The Iraqw in history were used on white collar jobs and currently economic activities of Mbulu people is agriculture, Trade without forgetting cattle keeping. Their areas support Wheat growing plantations as it was during British regime who introduced this crop to Mbulu areas
